About JPKC
Relationships. That’s the word that Board Member Dean Skaer uses to describe Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp. He tells every summer camp group about relationships, encouraging them to get to know their cabin mates and stressing the importance of developing and maintaining healthy relationships throughout their lives. The camp facility, staff and AmeriCorps members become a second home for our campers. Parents are thankful for the Pfeifer Camp village that is there for the long haul, as campers may return to camp year after year and may even become AmeriCorps and staff themselves!
At Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp, our mission is building young lives through innovative education, outdoor recreation, and family involvement through the Alternative Classroom Experience (ACE), Summer Camp, and the Counselor-In-Training (CIT) programs. The camp is owned and operated by Kiwanis Activities, Inc., of Little Rock, Arkansas, a 501-3(c) nonprofit organization closely connected to the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Little Rock.
Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp is located on 82 acres near Ferndale and is approximately 15 miles west of downtown Little Rock. Since 1929 the camp has provided a free summer residential camp program for youth aged 9 to 14 years old. ACE began in 1988, operates during the school year, and serves 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in the Little Rock and Pulaski County school districts.
