Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp
Pfeifer Camp Parent and ACE Graduates
To Whom it May Concern,
So far, I’ve had two children attend your camp and I would like to take a moment and tell you what it has done for my little family. During one of the darkest moments in our family’s history. I watched a mixed up little 10 year old girl who would have been in foster care otherwise, transform into a confident well mannered young lady before my eyes. To this day I am still amazed and so proud of her. The improvements in grades and school work was awesome but secondary to the blessing your camp was to her outlook on life. She has been through more than any child should ever have to go through and still smiles and laughs and walks with her head held high because she will tell you she’s a Pfeifer Camp kid!
My oldest son also attended your camp almost immediately after she graduated with her urging of course. He still tells his brother and friends about it all the time and remembers the lessons he learned there. I saw great improvement in his grades, handwriting and over all behavior, but again he graduated from Pfeifer Camp a proud confident Pfeifer Camp kid. There’s no way that with words I can express to you how thankful I am to you guys, all of you but I would like to name Ms. Theresa who I'm sure helped me as much as she did the kids. You've given my little family a brand new chance at life. How do you say thank you for that?
Initially I was drawn in, wanting to learn more. As time grew, I attended several meetings. The parent meetings are a great tool for single and married coupled families to approach traditional issues in a more effective manner. Also icebreakers such as “Cool Wind Blows”, facilitated by Mr. Sanford Tollette helped me (as I am sure others) to visually understand it does take a village to raise a child and that we have more in common than we know.
I am very appreciative of the support of the staff. Everyone is zealous in demonstrating their care for the children. The morale between the Director, Counselors, and staff as a whole seems to go beyond the norm. And is very much needed in order to create the type of atmosphere that will bring forth a generation of leaders. As far as my children, I noticed change immediately when they returned home. Not to minimize any efforts on my part toward instilling values. But it makes a world of a difference when children can’t see Momma at night (not only to them!) But my concern for their future helped me to stay determined and willing to sacrifice in times like this.
They have become more independent, confident and not afraid to take initiative. I am positive what they have learned at Pfeifer Camp will aid and follow them throughout life. Not saying they may not make wrong choices- but they will definitely be able to reflect on their experiences. I am truly thankful for Pfeifer Camp addressing concerns I had and also being the best Role Models!!!
To Whom This May Concern:
This letter’s purpose is to enlighten or paint a picture of the outcome I have by mychildren having the opportunity to experience life at Pfeifer Camp. First a brief background of myself: I am a divorced single mother of 3 sons. I will not say it has been a breeze; certainly, not a handicap. I have learned much from being their mom. One important thing I live by is to never give up on anything I put my mind to. Or my all time favorite cliché, only Quitters quit.” Keeping that in mind, I do have very high expectations for my children as well. One that takes precedent: Try your best at everything and the rest will fall into place. None-the-less, it has been a test!
When I first learned of Pfeifer Camp and before I spoke with “Mother” Teresa- I was not biased, however, I just had little information to go on. If ever there was a time something negative was said I would simply check the source that it comes from. Be that as it may, I was glad I spoke with her.
